Default Hard water spot removal

Hi all, I have some ugly hard water spots on my rear glass and side mirrors that I would very much like to remove...I've tried several washings, a polish(klasse), some heavy-duty glass cleaner and no dice.
The spots are still there...I've heard that a 1:1 solution of vinegar and water will dissove the dirt, true? Does anyone have a solution for this problem? I told the dealer that these spots were there and I wanted them taken off before I took delivery, but guess what? they are still there... They are very apparent at night...

Thanks for any help,

-SharkTT

Default 0000 Fine Steel Wool......For glass.

I heard it on this forum, have used it, and it is the only thing that has worked on any of our vehicle's windows for hard water spots.

Default Had the same spots on my gas lid ...........

Clay bar is the only way............... just make sure the vehicle is CLEAN ......... and lubricate well whenever using clay!

Default Yup! Baby butt smooth with the clay!

Took off stuff I couldn't get to budge when my car was new.

Default Clay bar believer here too....I recently acquired a rash of yellowish spots....

....over the whole car, that even 3M Perfect-it rubbing compound (see above thread) wouldn't remove. I think it was paint overspray from somewhere I drove by, but I'll probably never know. Found a Mothers brand clay bar kit at my local Pep Boys, and the yellow zits are history :-) The clay bar worked great on the glass too, the rear window was covered in the nasty stuff.

btw before attempting any of this, I searched the Detailing Forum for 'clay bar', and found a great deal of useful info.

Try the vinegar, it works well if the mineral deposits aren't baked in too hard.

Default If you use clay don't use the quick detailing spray for lube...

use a mixture of soap (whatever you use to wash the car) and water. Getting quick detailing spray all over your glass would be a pain to clean up.

Default Use LimeAway or...

what my parking garage uses - some sort of toilet bowl cleaner. Just don't tell your friends.
