Default I understand its a costly job

but I have the majority of what I need from a salvage car if all goes to plan.

I know that my grey interior was painte with some kind of rubber finish from the factory...I wonder if something like that is availble to the consumer?
For the little parts I dont handle much it might be a cost effective way to go. If I can match the black

Default i guess it depends how picky you are ...

personally, i wouldn't put labor into installing parts on my car that weren't flawless, so unless that salvage car was exceptionally well maintained, those plastics wouldn't cut it for me (plus it's so easy to damage parts trying to remove 'em.)

sorry, don't know about the rubberized stuff. my primary concern was oem quality, so i went with the oem parts.

Default btw, another option you have is to wrap more stuff in alcantara. for instance ...

that plastic trim piece around the rear window gets scratched up pretty easily, and it's blood money too ($200+ iirc from having replaced it *four* times now). wrapping it in alcantara would both mask the original color and solve the scratching problem, plus it would look nice too :-) next time mine gets scratched, i'll probably wrap it rather than call the parts department.

Default @ 145000miles, my cars worth very little except to me

I dont anticipate the parts being any worse than what I have existing...

Default it's more about the value of time ...

i don't have much free time these days and i don't want to waste it tearing the car apart more than i have to. used parts tend to have problems that lead to me having to do something more than once -- so i'll pay the premium for new.
