Has anyone ever tried to replace a 180/225 plastic belly pan with a 250 version?

Default Has anyone ever tried to replace a 180/225 plastic belly pan with a 250 version?

I've been told the V6 version is a bit more reinforced. Maybe an option other than the dieselgeek? I like that one, but wish it was a little more refined with better airflow ducts, etc.

Maybe I'll get some aluminum plates put on my stocker or something, but wanted to see if anyone else's done the V6 pan.

Need a little armor for my fireroading expeditions : )

Yes, I'll be careful. I just like to explore the trails that the twisties lead to....as perty as the TT is, it's never been a garage queen!

thanks..

Default what about the cutouts?

I need a new pan as well. I hesitated buying one yesterday because I wanted to look into the DG version. BUT there does not appear to be any air flow ducts or cutouts similar to the OEM? Isn't there a fluid cooler loop that needs air over it?

Default I'll do so and get back today. Been looking @ the DG since before it was out, but leery of cutouts.

I know it has some room around it for airflow, but there's some aerodynamics at work with the stock plate that appear to be missing too, as far as I can tell.

I'm sure that ultimately, the DG would be fine, was just wondering if anyone tried the 3.2--1.8T swap before.

Will let you know what DG says.

Default Not really "resolved" but there's enough to understand the issues in this thread >>

I don't think I need more info than this, so I won't bother Jim further, it's probably time to order.......

Default comfortable enough to be more worried about the oil pan, etc... anyone do this with a FMIC?

I'm going to take a good look at exactly how much venting the stock plastic provides at my next opportunity. I think that small vents could be cut into the DG one too, but their point is well taken that any cuts do weaken the pan as well.

But the idea that I have better protection with some spaces on the side for breathing, and Schwing's TTDA gasket material instead of the stock sealed gasket around the engine bay makes me a bit more content about engine cooling.

Another thought though, I see that this is installed using the connecter tube between stock intercoolers. Has anyone installed this with a FMIC? Seneb?

Default New pics on DG site show at least one vent and some oval slots

That said, I'm still puzzled by the assertion that the vents on the stock plate somehow direct air flow to the turbo.

The connector tube between the stock intercoolers should remain after installing an FMIC
