Has anyone had a bad MAF actually kill your car? As in, had to have it towed?

Default It's at the indie shop now. I'll get more info this afternoon. Thanks for everyones help.

Without doing any tests the mechanic at the indie shop said 9 out of 10 times a fuel lean code is the result of a bad MAF.

But when I said that in the past when the MAF went bad, it always threw a CEL and it reduced my power, it never killed it. He said after he scanned it, he would check the fuel pressure first and then go from there.

once when mine went out (one) I had no code either; one time I had a flashing CEL.

Hmmm...Interesting. How did you know it was a coilpack w/o a code?

Default Who did the work? If not you, didn't the dealer or indie shop need some other indication...

or smoking gun that pointed to the coilpack rather than MAF, fuel pump, etc.???
