Has anyone tried to resync. the FOB to their car? What method did you use?

Has anyone tried to resync. the FOB to their car? What method did you use?
I'm looking at both the A4 and TT methods and the TT method doesn't seem to jive when you read it through step-by-step. The A4 seems easy enough but will it work?
Also, I assume it doesn't matter if the windows are down or not, right??
