Have any of you ski bums ever skied Taos, NM? If so, just curious what you thought of it?

I've received an invitation to go there this winter and ski for a few days and I know absolutely nothing about it. How does it rate compared to some of the places in Colorado & Utah?

Default Though Mtn. Lots of expert Runs, One of the few places that don't allow snowboards :-(

I was there about 3 Years ago, Had a good time, but will provably not return.

Even if they allow snowboarders...

Default Excellent place - very steep (in fact vertical in some places). Stay at the Austing House...

Very nice hotel - handbuilt tongue-in-groove, open beam construction. Owners and restaurant are fantasttic. Since it is a German kinda place, maybe they will give you a discount :-)

Default I only ski so that won't impact me. Sounds like a relatively fun place.

How was the night life?

Default Dave, Taos is excellent! Intimidates many because from the base .........

...all's you can see is black diamond terrain. The sign says "Don't Panic, you're looking at only 10% of Taos" The area is very laid back and gets some serious snowfall. I was there in 1990 just after a 110" snowfall caused some major avalanche damage. The town has a noticeable "South of the Border" feel. Reminds me a lot of Portillo. You can find some real nice Adobes at Cyberrentals.com. Go for it!!
