Default well if not a race car, then how about a diesel/electric? go after the automotive X prize

use a small diesel to power gen, to power electric motors, same idea as the big locomotives!

Default if you are using the OEM running gear, gonna be tough to do anything>>>

other than a transverse motor....

Unique is usually fairly expensive, with little or no return....wait, that sounds like modding!!! ;-)

Default Go with a 3.2 VR6 manual trans: forge internals + gt40 = 500+ whp...

keep it simple and extremely fast it will be lighter than the v8 and there is a ton of aftermarket parts for it. And by the way less headaches to install.
