Default headunit install, can you guys clear this up please>>

I have a 2001 TTQ 225 roadster with the upgraded bose package. I have brought it to 2 local stereo installers along with the diagram from bipes website showing wiring.

At the first shop (Circuit City) I handed them the headunit and said "install please". They came back dumbfounded and said they had no idea how to install it because the bose wiring did not match the diagram on the top of the headunit. So i said find and handed them the drawing from bipes website. Then they said it didnt match. So I thought OK his car doesn't have the upgraded bose so this is a possibility.

My next stop was hifi buys. I thought for sure these guys would know what they are doing, I was wrong they said they would probably end up blowing the bose amp if they tried to install it and refused installation.

Can someone please tell me how to install my new cd player? I have the wiring harness, dash install kit, and antenna adapter so all I need to know is how to wire it. The drawing on bipes website dosnt match my headunit. On my headunit the line level out (according to the drawing) is a ground. I know someone can help. Thanks alot.

Default You have the 'Concert I' H/U with the cassette. AFAIK, this wiring diagram is an accurate...

representation of the connectors and wiring going to the H/U.

I do not have the actual color-code that goes to these wires but any competent person could figure this out.
You can't "Blow the Bose amp" wiring line-out to line-in.

You need to find a better installer.

My garage is open Saturday.

Maybe they are confused by the fact the label references the actual connectors upside down.

Default Hey Jeff, (edited)

2 things, one did you get my payment for the angel eyes? And 2 you need to fix the angel eyes link on your site -
http://jbipes.home.comcast.net/angels.html (nothing there)

(Edited) Actually, the only one that works is the led turn signals

Default under the "remote amp sw on" ...

This should be a 12 v signal to the amp to turn it on. This is in fact a thick black wire. This is what made the "installer" not want to do the installion he said it was a ground cable and not the amp turn on. He said if he put 12v to it, it would blow the amp. Anyway to make a long story short I am just going to do the installtion myself.

How can I get the speaker output(RCA's) to the bose amp? I know you can do some kinda splice. Can you be specific about it? Also can i just tap into the ground, 12v etc on the factory wiring harness from the radio wiring harness? Thanks for all your help.

Default Ground in German cars is BROWN. Yes, tap into the LL,LR etc wires, use the center lead...

of the coaxial cable.
shield wires of each RCA go to 'COM'

Default sounds like i am getting over my head...

So i would have to get 2 sets of rca's cut em open on one end and run from headunit rca's to the corresponding wires at headunit? Also will this sound like crap when its all done? If I buy 2 component 6.5" and a 2 channel amp will this sound alot better?

Default What? Just buy a male-to-male RCA cable, cut off one end. Wire the white lead to the left, red to...

the right, copper shield to the 'COM'
Run the other ends, with the RCA-males on them to new H/U.
Plug 'em in.

If you used solder and good wiring techniques, you will have no problems.
I can't show you any more, because I don't have any pics of this.
If you are doing this fir the first time, you may seem overwhelmed.
take it easy, work slow and complete.

Default GM Jeff...

I'm not sure if you received my email with my number and address for the total cost of the Angel Eye kit so I can pay you. Thanks. Joe.
