My 1.8 roadster TT just blows luke warm air at best. The temp needle sits dead center when it warms up and she runs great. So far I tried replacing the thermostat, flushed the heater core, tried reversing heater core lines. I flushed the whole coolant system also and filled with new coolant. Still no change.
I notice that the lower coolant hose never gets warm but the upper hose gets very hot. I was told from previous owner the water pump was recently replaced but I dont have confirmation of that. Looking for any ideas..
This is a problem I had with my HVAC system under the dash and I actually found an entire box to replace and go back into my 2006 TT. Have you heard if the issues when the foam comes apart from the blend doors? It's really common, and I'm linking a video here so you can watch. This is Charles and I love his YouTube channel, as he deals mostly with VW cars. In this particular one he addresses an issue that is for VW and Audi. It's another place to try anyway although it's not for the faint of heart.

Sounds like you might have a clog in your heater core... which is a much more invasive process to fix.
You can potentially fix it with a couple different methods, but I would absolutely NOT run any sort of chemical through your entire cooling system. If that's the route that you take, disconnect your heat hoses and only run the chemicals or whatever through the heater core only.
Thanks guys! Got into the dash with that great write up. The doors had zero foam on them and none inside. Must have all been blown out from previous owner. Thanks for the help and the link to the great writeup. Took me 2.5 hours and well worth it.
