Are the hellas that everyone uses for replacement horns REALLY loud?

My dad actually bought a 1960 Cadillac Coupe de Ville, used, in 1963
from a guy who owned a trucking company. The prior owner had a geenormous train horn mounted diagonally in that cavern of an engine compartment coupled to an air compressor that he thought siphoned off about 75 hp at full load. Sucker sounded like the Queen Mary and would cleave through traffic like Moses through the Red Sea. Plus, lots of truckers would honk at us trying to get us to respond.
