Default TT-launch in Germany

TEAMAN,

If my memory serves me right, the TT was officially launched in November of last year in Germany. AUDI employees desiring this car could submit an "application" for an early production TT (at 18% discount!). If your app was one of the (I think 5000) drawn initially, you were one of the first to be able to brag on the road late last year :-). AUDI tried to spread the TTs out between normal buyers and employees evenly. What better advertisement than tons of TTs out on the roads at any given time? During my latest visit in Ingolstadt last spring, TTs could be seen at every street corner, in front of every "In-Cafe", in any of the available colors. Pretty frustrating for some, I guess.

Be glad the US is such a large place and volume of TTs is restricted.

Default Forgot something

I forgot:

You guys should see the employee's parking lot at AUDI right now! Any color, option, wheel and spoiler combination available can be seen there, most likely multiple times. May be someone from Ingolstadt could post a picture?

Default Question about German sideview mirrors (more)

My dealer sales person told me that he thinks the right sideview mirror might be split. By that I mean that the inside part is more for looking back and then there is a vertical seam and the outer part is angled out more. That makes it easier to see cars in your blind spot.

I took a "predrive" of my TTQ on Saturday. (picking it up Monday). If I adjust the right mirror out far enough to see cars in the blindspot, I cannot see the side of the car. I can live with that, but would prefer not to.

Thanks,

DennyA

Hi Tarik,

"AUDI employees desiring this car could submit an "application" for an early production TT (at 18% discount!)."

I think itīs only 15 or 16% for a couple of years now. Audi has to save money! :-)

"What better advertisement than tons of TTs out on the roads at any given time?"

Sometimes it has been to much advertisement. ;-)
As you may know, Audi produced a large number of pre-series-cars, with no special use after series production had started. Thus, many Audi-employees took one of those PS-cars over the weekend to have some fun. The audi-boss didnīt like that (because there have been many many customers waiting very long for their TT who didnīt like to see employees crusing around with TTs for nothing) and "collected" them. Later, factory-customers like Journalists (like I am) could rent one of those PS-cars, if their order had been delayed for quite al long time (as it was with my 225Q). So I drove one of the very first TTs (prod. date June 98!) and it was a perfect car.

"During my latest visit in Ingolstadt last spring, TTs could be seen at every street corner, in front of every "In-Cafe", in any of the available colors"

Well, I am from Ingolstadt, but I canīt remember any In-Café right now. ;-)

"May be someone from Ingolstadt could post a picture?"

Letīs see, itīs all a question of time...

īBye,

Michael
