Default Did you measure from terminal to terminal on the battery? Or from + term to ground?

Because you can get a reading also of 9.3V if your ground cable is messed up if you didn't read straight across the battery... The reason I ask is because alot of people actually measure that way...

How old is your battery? It might be it won't take a charge, and your alternator could be fine...

Default except that it wouldn't have been an issue while the engine is running right?>>

I don't think a bad battery wouldn't account for everything shutting down while driving. I think the generator would account for that...

Default We measured voltage using TTagz's technique....see above

we didn't have a voltmeter handy

While that is traditionally true, the TT seems to be very finicky...
