Default Help! I'm installing my Mintex pads...

I have done a search and know that the wear sensors do not work. So, if I leave them off, will it light up a light in the dash? If so, can it be turned off. Also, do they have squeeler's built in for when they get low? What do you do with the wire from the car. Just tape if off?

Default OK...first answer is yes...when you remove the plug of the sensor wire from pad to receptacle....

located on the strut you have 'opened' the circuit and thus the onboard preceives this as a worn pad (a small wire is imbedded in the pad and when pad is worn enough the wire is 'broken' by being rubbed away by rotor). How to correct...take a small piece of tin foil and push into the receptacle (female plug part) mounted on the strut...make sure to push all the way in so the foil is wrapping the two prongs inside the receptable. Now fill the receptacle with a silicon adhesive/caulk to seal. That's it...light out. Now that the wear sensor system is bypassed you simply need to on occassion to look at pads to verify wear...

Default I th ink the Mintex Red Box have an additional compound near end of life that squeals, too.

I haven't hit that on mine but I heard it on another car and saw that his pads were very worn but not gone.

Default sorry I didn't check the forum last night, I would have driven over to help!

Did ya get them installed? I ended up splicing the wire harness from the old pads to the Mintex ones when I did mine.
