Default Help my fuel gauge is possessed...

Yesterday I noticed that after 3 days of driving I had not consumed much gas... so I drove for about an hour running errands and I still had a full tank. Not really, it seemed that my fuel gage was stuck on full. Then at a stop light, I had my turn signal on, and the fuel gage started dancing to the beat of the blinker, from 1/2 to 3/4 to full, then back to 1/2 and so on.

I remember reading here that a couple of you have had the instrument cluster replaced.

Was this one of the reasons? Any body else with failed fuel gauge?

Default This is a common problem...

There is a fault in many of the fuel sensing units which causes incorrect readings. A few have even run out of gas when the gauge indicated 1/2 tank or more. I don't know if the entire cluster needs to be replaced for just that problem but you should take it in to your dealer ASAP.

Mine started acting up a few weeks ago so I never let the gauge read much below 1/2 just in case.

Default What GuilTTy said is absolutely correct, but I'd also like to know if you're in CA...

since there seems to be an even worse problem there, possibly due the new lower octane gas. I don't think it's the octane, but perhaps higher sulfur content.

Anyway, just working a theory.

Default You clearly need an exorcism!!! I know just the guy, but you'll have to fly to Zimbabwe and will...

need two (intact) male goats and a handful of silver and a piece of fabric or leather from the car's interior....

That, or, if you're the more conventional type, just call the dealer...

Although I am fascinated by your first Idea... Calling the Dealer seems more convenient

Frankly, the latter is not a solution for purisTTs, but seems to work for some ... ;-)
