I recently bought the 2 piece Samco hose kit from TTstuff. I installed the two hoses without any problems. About a week or two later I was on the highway in 6th gear, gave it some gas to pass a car and heard "POP", then no power, no boost. I pulled over to find the lower part of the hose on the right hand side (connected to the intake manifold)had popped off. Luckily my friend was home and came to help me out with some tools. I tightened the hell out of the band clamp, made sure everything was cool, then went home. I used the car for about two weeks, driving very hard with no problems. Then yesterday (in the rain) I took a turn while in-boost, stepped the rear end out, and when the car straiteded out I heard a loud bang. Once again there was no boost. I pulled over and of course, the same hose had come off. So my question is...am I doing something wrong here? I tightened the sh*t out of the clamp but it still popped off. I ordered those crazy clamps from Hose Techniques but they wont be here for a few days. Are they really neccesary? I have replaced several clamps on my car with these but thought they were more for safety/security...I didnt think that I NEED them. Any thoughts?

The secret is to remove the Battery and battery box so you can get to that joint. Make sure your hose fits well while you're at it. I've done a few of these and that hose usually needs trimming to avoid a kink...

It looks like there is a SLIGHT kink in the hose, should I trim just a little bit off? Also, is there a way to tell which end of the hose goes where? There were no directions at all. I tried to match the new hose up to the old one but still couldnt tell. One end of the hose slips over the lower part easily, the other end couldnt.
Thanks again Steve.

be patient...you can always cut more off but it's a bitch once you cut too much to put it back on. If I remember one end has a slight angle to it that matches the OEM hose better then the other end. Good Luck!

If you actually line up the hose with the OEM one, keeping one end flush, you'll see that the other end's face is at the wrong angle. I got mine from Forge, no help from them to fix this mold defect. I had to trim about 1 inch off and 180 degrees away only about 1/4 inch. Also, as Steve suggested, battery out to get at the joint.
Forge tried to claim manufacturing variability on Audi's part for the poor fit. Not what I'd expect for a $100 hose.
