I'm in the process of putting the new timing belt on and I cannot for the life of me get it on. It almost seems like the belt is one or two teeth too small. Are there any tricks to get it on? I ordered the timing belt kit from ecs and the belt part # is 06b 109 119a and the one i took of is a 119B.

My TDC mark up top lines up perfectly and the bottom mark on the belt lines up where I marked it on the engine itself, there is tension on the belt and when I turn the crank everything turns correctly, is there an absolute way to make sure the timing is correct besides everything I've done so far???

I've got it around the crank at the bottom and the top and on the tensioner pulley, I cannot get it around the water pump, it seems the belt is one tooth too short, i've read like 4 different tutorials and most of them said the belt should go on, but for the life of me I cannot get it around the water pump, and if I get it around the waterpump and either the top or the bottom then whatever it's not around i can't get it around. Any suggestions?

I've finally got it on, but i still need to put the tensioner in, taking a break for a minute. When i turn the crank how much resistance should I have to tell if my timing is right, the TDC is exactly on and so is the bottom mark I made. As long as those line up I should be good right?

If the belt is tight without it, there is no way you're going to get that on...

There is some slack on that side of the belt, one of the set of instructions i've been reading have said to do that after what i've already done. What about turning the crank? how much resistance should I feel?

That it's almost impossible to do it that way. You mentioned before the belt was too tight...I assume that was with the tensioner in place?
One trick is to put the belt only halfway onto the top sprocket, and water pump and over the tensioner pulley. You can then roll it onto the lower sprocket with a little clockwise rotation. Make sure the marks are spot on. It's easy to end up a tooth off....You marked the belt and pulleys, right?? Once it is started on the crank pulley it can be slid on 100%. As far as turning the crank, there will be a fair amout of resistance if you left the plugs in...You're fighting compression. If you feel it mechanically "Stop" you're hitting a valve. Start over.
