Default HELP! - Tree sap on TT

My son parked his TT under a bunch of trees for an entire day and now has places that will not come off with normal washing. It has been on for 3 days and the car is black. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove these places safely without damaging the paint or clearcoat? I've heard things like denatured alchol but I'm scared to try these without some input from others. Thanks in advance.

Default Mothers clay bar, followed up by 3M IHG, and then wax..

Of course wash the car before doing anything.. I had some sap on my car and the clay bar took it right off..

Default You can also use Goo Gone, followed by wash and wax.

Use it sparingly.

This is NOT Goof Off, a product that will eat to the metal.

What would you do for the windshield after the goo gone?

Default After the sap is removed? Or if the goo gone doesn't work?

If you mean, after the sap is removed.. Id wax the winshield.. I always wax my windshield and love how the water just beads off..

If you meant, what to do if the goo gone doesn't work? Give the clay bar a try.. I had great success with the mothers kit.. Just make sure to allow for about 2-5 hours of claying (depending on how **** you are) and then follow it all up with 3M IHG, and then a good wax (I love blitz)..

Clay bar is without a doubt a miracle.. A buddy of mine had his car vandalized.. They poured ink all over it and when I got to his house to take a look at it, he was pretty concerned because nothing he used took it off (including soap, tar remover, and some polish he had)..

I broke out the clay bar which removed some of it but the ink actually started to work its way into the paint and left some nasty staining.. After a little tender love and care with the 3M IHG, everything was gone..

Default Oh, I meant after the goo gone does its work

You say you wax it? Any wax will do, or a specific one for the glass?

Default The wax I use on my windshield is the same wax that I use on the cars body..

Blitz wax.. Water beads off really well on the highway, but then again Im sure rainx will do the same thing (I just wax the windshield while Im waxing the car)..
