Default Here's what I did with the oil temperature source eventually ->

I did what Steve said. I managed to find a new tap (same dimension as the oem) which was drilled in the middle as much as the width of the sensor required. I bolted them together and added some special glue to prevent any possible leaking (the red thing). So I guess that now it's ready to bolt on the oil pan after draining during my service tomorrow and then proceed to full installation. Is there anything else I need to do before proceeding? Any additional insulation appart from the glue to avoid leaking (some silicone maybe)? Thanks.

Default Your red loctite or whatever you used may affect the ground

of the sensor, giving false readings. Hope not, but maybe... Some say don't use teflon tape or paste either.

Default So you're saying that I'd better leave it as is?

Should I wipe it off now? Are n't there any possible leaking dangers that way?

Default Try it as is...and see if the gauge readings are within the expected range.

If you think the gauge appears "off", the you might try again.

You can always leave this bolt/tap in place and find another way. You would only be out the cost of an oil change anyway.

I tapped into the OEM oil filter/cooler area as some of the VW have. It is not as easy as the oil pan method you are using, but it works. See the link below for details.

Oil Temp Gauge

Default

Usually that is a compression fitting, so tape or locktite is not necessary.

Default I just wiped it off since it was pretty tight together.

Thank you all.
