Default Hey STEVE, in regards to your suspension + haldex...

Steve I know you already had the 19mm rear sway and have recently upgraded to the haldex unit throwing off the balance. I think I remember reading that you had planned to upgrade the front sway bar to compensate for the change in the cars suspension and driveline characteristics, to maintain neutrality/slight oversteer.

I've been also looking into some suspension mods including haldex, front and rear sways. Still to me the car feels soft at high speed or hard transitional turning. It feels like it wants to float or break. Too much roll still. Also I've been thinking about auto-Xing the car. So I was thinking haldex, 19mm rear and Front? what are your suggestions or anyone here with similar?

Default What is your shock and spring set-up?

I went with the 22mm front bar and already had the 19mm rear on. This seems to be a nice combo with the dial on oversteer you can get out of the Haldex. Pretty stiff and little body roll. I have Eibach/Bilsteins, but also MK1 arms and GC from Camber kit...The combo is very precise..

Default I don't think what you're feeling is roll....>>

Probably alignment issues...Largely in the rear. Too much camber and probably too much toe. Get those Kmacs on and read this thread...>

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1363022</a

Default Steve, are you saying

That when I add the Haldex controller to the following setup, I'll want a front sway bar?

Bilstien Sport
Eibach pro kit
Neuspeed 19mm rear sway bar
full K-MAC

??

I'm thinking of ordering the Haldex controller soon, like in the next week. What will I experience w/out the front sway bar?

Default Well.....The Haldex HP unit..>

Allows you to do a little power on oversteer. Increasing the Front bar balances the car out a bit better IMO. Lots of guys here have the 19 and HP, but handling at the edge or in inclement weather might require a little more concentration (skill). Keep in mind though, with a relatively normal driving style and no fast throttle applications the Haldex will feel just like stock. It's only at the extremes that it shines and this becomes a concern.

Default hmm, didnt think about this but what about..

taking the car into hard turns at high speeds w/o being on the throttle?

I want these upgrades to be the best performance for daily on the street driving and maybe some occassional x-crossing. Should I maybe consider one or the other, like doing just the haldex or just the rear bar? I really want to optimize my handling.

Oh, and since you mentioned it the Kmacs are now a priority. I have just continued to put them on the backburner since it is an easily overlooked mod. Also I have to drive 2-3hrs to charlotte to do it since I dont have anything here in Asheville for alignment, ect.

Default At high speeds on trailing throttle...>

The Haldex disconnects anyway, so no effect there.
For Auto X I would think the HP unit would be the perfect mod. For street driving the 19mm makes for a very good handling car. As I said, the Haldex will only come into play when aggressive, and will be pretty invisible day to day. A big factor here is a proper performance alignment..

Default HMmmm, ok, hmmm

I gotcha, so what do you say is the best upgrade for everyday driving? I have never x-crossed the car but would like to start. So essentially the car is a daily driver that I would like to optimized the Daily overall performance of the car. (improve upon my earlier gripes)

Default Just throw the bar on....>>

for $170. $800 Haldex HP may be more than you need at the moment.
