Default Hi-Tech Stereo Upgrades in TT Roadster?

After being on the list (at Bellevue, WA) since 9/99, I was finally able to place my 225Q order today for 9/00 delivery. I opted to NOT take Audi's "premium" audio package. It's ridiculous that such a cutting-edge car has a $1200 in-dash cassette player when cassettes are DEAD. And I rarely use the same 6-CD changer unit in my Beetle. I have most of my 500+ CDs in MP3 format, and I plan to install an aftermarket replacement that'll store and decode my whole collection. An AutoPC with a hard disk is a distinct possibility, but an in-dash CD-R (or CD-R changer) would suffice, and DVD-RAM would be even better. Has anyone found a good solution? Any problems replacing Audi's standard sound system? Thanks...

Default You know what, the Bose is actually decent...

I was really shocked. I usually upgrade my systems, but I'm not sure with the Roadster. My TT Coupe did not seem as nice. The Roadster system has: better separation, A FADER, MORE power, ability for more bass. I am still shocked by how good it is. That doesn't mean it can't be improved, I'll look forward to hearing about your system. What would be ideal is plug-and-play amp and speaker upgrades that retain the factory head. -Pete

Stratmosphere Audi Accessories

Default Bose Thoughts

Speaking as a home theater buyer, there are ALWAYS better systems than Bose.

however, I've had AC/Delco in my Old's for the last 4 years, I'm sure the Bose will be an improvement. I'll just listen when I get it and decide if I need to upgrade.

When it comes to sound systems i've found that stereos are like a$$holes. Everyone has one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks....
Tom Boucher
