Default Hiding the FMIC

Based on all the post I've read so far, you can get the forge FMIC to fit and keep the aliens (I'm partial to the cloud off the front end during the rain), but not sure about any others.
Has anybody fit a FMIC besides the forge and been able to keep the aliens?

Second, I would like it to be functional, but not seen, so how visible is everyone's FMIC?
would spraying it with a coat or 2 of Krylon flat black cause any drop in performance? Or is it tucked in far enough that it would be an excercise in futility?

Thanks.

Default well....

Any particular reason you want to keep the aliens? IMO, they do nothing but dirty up the front of your car.

As far as being visible, I don't know if it's such a good idea to paint that thing....someone else may have an idea.

Default I could be wrong.....

But I think regular paint would inhibit heat transfer/dissapation. There are some thermal/transmissive coatings that can be applied, however.

http://www.full-race.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=896_196&osCsid=36f8f82e688d5a7 c6a3a7ee62fa8dc00</a

Default A former member a long while back had his anodized black.....

don't remember if he did any testing though to see if it negatively affected temps.

Default O.CT is aliens-compatible.

Default I believe there are specific processes that actually render the metal.....

more capable of transferring heat. I would look into a company that does coatings etc that are specifically directed towards this application - it is possible there are other kinds of anodizing etc that dont have the same effect - but I am not an expert in that field, so I am just guessing...

Default As said by others, the O.CT will let you keep the aliens...................

Here are a few pics of my O.CT. I chose to leave the grill on.
