DATELINE: Ingolstadt
BODY:
Over 45,000 TT Roadster models also already built
TT Coupe (165 kW) with exclusive "S line" sports package for a limited period
Assembly of the first Audi TT Coupe began at the Gyoer plant in Hungary in April 1998. Today the 100,000th of this successful sports car rolled off the assembly
line. Over 13,000 TT Coupe models were assembled in Gyoer in the first year of production. The third quarter of 1999 saw the addition of the Roadster, of which
over 45,000 units have now already been produced in Hungary.
The Ingolstadt and Gyoer plants cooperate closely on the production of both models. The TT bodies are manufactured and painted at Ingolstadt. The painted body
shells are then transported by rail to Gyoer overnight where final assembly takes place. Audi has invested DM 70 million in assembly facilities for its sports car at
the Hungarian plant. A workforce of around 1100 is employed in TT production at Gyoer.
The TT Coupe will be marketed worldwide from September with the exclusive "S line" sports package by quattro GmbH - albeit only for a limited period,
probably until the end of the year. This high-quality package will only be offered for the TT Coupe 1.8 T with 165 kW (225 bhp) engine. It includes sports
suspension, 18-inch cast alloy wheels, leather seats, the choice between two new exterior colours, aluminium gear-lever **** and headlight trims in the colour
Titanium. TT Coupe models fitted with this equipment package will also bear the emblem "S line".
Audi is an international developer and manufacturer of high-quality cars. In 2000 the company sold more than 650,000 Audi models. The sales revenues of the
Audi Group totalled DM 39 billion. The Audi Group currently has more than 50,000 employees.
