Default Holy schmoly...Mazda adding a folding hardtop to '07 MX-5/Miata <edit--added URL w/ pics>

As reported in today's issue of AutoWeek that is hitting the streets which includes a very nice write-up and a couple of pics. It will be shown at the British Auto Show next month and available in the US next Fall.

Jeez...Audi continues to get pounded with exciting new or updated product from their competition that is already on the streets above them (Z4 M and the new Coupe, Cayman, SLK, etc.) and below them (Sky, Solstice, Mazda).

Extra Topping

Default Why, in a Miata, would you need that? Only "little people" would have problems reaching the top.

Just going to slow a perfectly good car down.

If it was just a power top I'd agree with you but it's a HARD top too.

Default Exactly....I think this is great as it gives us northerners an all-weather roadster!

And you don't have to buy the SLK or Lexus SC for 2-3 times as much. Big cudos to Mazda for this.

Default If you really need a hard top, couldn't you just get the clamp on one?

Part of what makes a Miata so great is the simplicity.

Of course only little people fit in that car... Or at least at 6'2", I sure don't...

Default Well in MN where it's 75 one day and 35 the next it would be a nice option

Not what I'm looking for personally. And I agree with you on the KISS idea. But the ease of a hardtop in that small package is the real benefit, not necessarily the power part.

Methinks that trunks space sacrifice would not be worth it.
