Default Anyone think I should file a police report? How do I approach the insurance company so that this
will not go on my record as being "at fault"?

did you call CHP or local police after it happened? maybe a police report would've helped...

Default Sorry about what happened....
I would be surprised if the police would write this up. Just give your insurance company a call and tell them what happened and how it would affect your rates if you were to claim it.

Default I just pulled over later down the road to check on the condition of my car...
I didn't sustain any engine damage that I could see, was only about 5 miles from home and car seemed to be able to run still. I'll call CHP tomorrow to see if I can file a report or something to document it, or there were some sort of record that there was a down tree in the area.

Btw, got your email, and yes, you've got dibs on my rear!
