Default Any competent shop should be able to balance a wheel

but the question is....Is this Walmart competent. The best shop can do it wrong, and the worst shop could do it right. There is no guarantee that even the dealer would get it right.

Make sure the wheel is not bent

Default Here's the deal......

Just about any schmuck can throw wheels weights on where the balancer points to. This doesn't always solve balance problems. You need to find a good wheel/tire shop that has the balancer that also does road-force measurement. With this machine, a roller presses down on the tire as it's rotating to simulate the tire on the road. It will determine high and low spots on the tire/wheel, and factors this into the whole balance equation. If necessary, it will also recommend rotating the tire on the wheel for a more even match.

I've heard Hunter makes a great road force balancer. I'm looking for one in my area...

It May Not Be Balance; Make Sure They're Tightening The Lugs Properly (Warped Hubs/Rotors)
