i have many conflicting reports..
open door, position key to on but do not start car, wait 2 mins.. then i heard to pop the hood too.
-am i supposed to hear a noise or something to let me know it worked?
thanks.

When it stops, you're done I believe. It has been along time since I did this, and it was just once. I think the open door is also only to allow you to hear better - since I have a roadster, wasn't an issue..The other part is correct - turn key to ignition, do not start engine.

and can improve response and driveability, if the throttle was out of spec in tghe first place. That's why people ike to do it after installing new mods - so they know that's working right.

while it does cycle the throttle through its positions, doesn't actually cause any re-learning. That seems to be the subject of some dispute. If you can't VAG it though, nothing to lose by trying!
