How do you change the embedded picture in the template in Photoshop

Cut and paste, keeping in mind the image size.

I tried that, but i can't get rid of the image in the template.

Default Go to 'Window' - 'Show layers' click on the background-pic layer, then drag that to the 'trash'...
paste in your pic in that empty spot, resizing if necessary.
(before you delete the existing background image, go to 'Image' - 'Image size' to see the correct size.
