Default Tis very easy with the right tools.......

You will need a 17mm allen socket of some sort. Preferably a 1/2" drive allen socket to go on the end of a good-sized ratchet. Also, you'll need a suction gun of some sort to refill it. You should be able to get this at any parts store. Anyway, undo the drain plug at the bottom of the trannyand drain the fluid. Replace the plug and undo the same type of plug at the rear of the tranny and refill it using the suction gun until the fluid reaches the bottom of the refill hole and begins to flow out. Replace and tighten plug. That's it. Should take about 20 minutes.

I'd like to replace mine with REDLINE Synthetic, what weight do you recommend and how many quarts does it take. Thanks.

Default I thought I'd read a previous post saying it was a 17MM Allen ?.......

I could certainly be mistaken as I've not done this personally.

Default He would have to pay for the dealer to change his tranny fluid . . .

The dealer will NOT change the tranny fluid until the recommended service interval. If you ask them to change it early they will charge you to change it.

it sux, but it is true. At least at all of the dealers that I have asked. They have each told me that Audi will not reimburse them for the work if it is not called for at this time. You are better off doing the work yourself. You will know it was done properly and the correct amount of fluid was put in.

that is a possibility. I get them confused with M-B V8 oil drain plug sizes.

Default I just remember the prior post jogged my old VW memories...........

For whatever reason....I have 2 17MM Allen wrenches and a 3/8 drive 17MM Allen socket. I remember the smell of that horrible gear oil like it was yesterday : - {
