Resigned to the fact that I'm not going to find a TT anywhere (I live in the LA area), I am considering ordering a TT. Dealers tell me they will order one a sticker price (most dealers here are asking $5,000 or more for incoming cras on waiting lists) but will I ever see it?!?!?

2 Questions:

1) Once ordered, how long does it take for a TT to be delivered? I've heard anywhere from 3-4 months to 8-9 months (yikes!). Is there a "due date" for the 2001 model year? What can I realistically expect here? What have you all experienced?

2) Do you think anyone will see any 180HP Quattro TT coupes with the sports, comfort and audio packages after May or is Audi going to bundle the optional packages with the 225HP model and keep the 180HP coupe low cost?

I'm looking for a TT Coupe, sports, comfort and audio (I'm open to color). 180HP is fine but if I have to stretch for 225HP to get the packages I will. Does anyone know of one anywhere near me?

Not sure about order times but I was in LA a couple of months ago and saw 2 180coupe TT's (one black Q and one silver FWD) with the options you want. They were both waiting to be sold. Call 213-745-6000 (VW/Porche/Audi of Downtown LA) and ask for Brian. He was very helpful and even took me out for a spin (unlike the sales manager Sam who gave me the chills). My advice would be to wait for a 225 though since the 180 was a little slower than I would like!

The consistent message across the country is about 4 months from dealer order to delivery of car to you the consumer. I have been waiting since May '99 for my 225Q coupe and just placed my order last week--July delivery.

I sympathize with your plight. I too live in LA and was in the same position about a month ago. After going to EVERY Audi dealer in LA, I dropped in on Keyes in Van Nuys and inquired on ordering. They said someone just cancelled an order on a loaded gray 180Q and it would be there in 3 weeks. I jumped on it, and am picking it up tomorrow.

My advice to you is go to every dealer you can find and ask if anyone has cancelled an order recently. If not, buddy up to a sales person and see if they'll call you if an order cancels. I think this is your best shot at getting one in the near term.
