Default FAQ Answer (new)

Did a quick search around the net, found a few sites that said to wait. Anyone else?<p><a href="http://www.auditt.org"><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/bz_sig_1.jpg" border="0">

Default I've always heard 30 days after delivery, but...

if it took some 30 days for my car to arrive in port, after leaving Germany, and it's now 2 weeks sitting in port, and they can't tell me when it will arrive at the dealer...I'd say , time enuf! Go ahead and polish/wax it right away!<p><A HREF="mailto:jbipes@mtn.org"><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/bipecott.gif" BORDER=0 alt="Jeff Bipes"></a>

How long can you wait to run your fingers over the sumptuous curves, rubbing, rubbing, oh oh humm?

Default i have always waited

at least 3 months after the car was built. this allows all paint to settle as recommended by many paint/body shops i have spoken with. this has worked for me over the last 15 years.....for whatever it is worth.
to protect the paint in the meantime wash and use a quick shine product like Griots Simple "Fast" shine and use a light touch.

good luck

Default No need to wait, the dealer has already applied the first coat of wax for you!

The dealer waxes the car during their "prep" of the car before delivery to you. It sucks, but this is what they insist on doing to a new car!

I clayed and did the entire Zaino treatment the day after I got my TT back in Nov. '99.

I had to try and get all of the swirls the dealer put into the paint out!

Default Until five years ago (and still true for body shop repairs since most arn't upgraded) three...

months wait is/was the standard. No longer true with downdraft paint booths and a radical change in chemical composition of paint. Current products setup very, very quickly. Safely, you can wax w/o concern as soon as you wish.

It has only been in recent years that manufacturers have shipped vehicles with plactic protective covering. In years past, it would be unheard of to cover paint while still in the curing stage...no more.

Advances in painting technology in the past five years have been dramatic! Worry not about waxing to soon.<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/cbsigx.jpg" borders="0">
