How many have done a 5 spd to 6 spd swap?

quite a difference 5 vs 6 speed in the gaps... this is definitely an upgrade I'd like to do... my TT is brilliant on the track, but often times it seems I'm "in between" gears... meaning 2 is too low, 3 is too high. The lower 3rd gear ratio on the 6 speed might help.

I don't have the bentley here to back with numbers, but there is a difference between 4th abd 5th, at least on my car...

4th of the 5 speed into the 6 speed. This will eliminate the need for me to be at 3-4-5 on some tracks. Wait, I can't track the TTR anymore with the rollcage requirement hmmm. On the A4, I'm pretty much 3-4 only, since 4th get's me over 100. 2 for hairpins.
I think the 6 speed ratios are too low and close. Too much rowing to get into speed.
On my Mazda, I added a fifth gear since it used to be 4 speed only. The internals where almost identical except for a new gate and the synchro and gear setup.

Thanks for the info Joe. That may make me pick up some tranny on a swap meet for future dissection should I pull mine out for a clutch or slave cylinder work. Although I'm really curious at how the insides work to accomodate the 2 final drives with a single rear diff gear setting.
I hope the Haldex doesn't take the slip and heat should they engage when in 5th or 6th.
This makes race controllers questionable if they didn't account for this.
