Default How many mAh are supplied by switched 12V sources (like the fusebox?)

I am trying to figure out how many mAh are required to run gauges.

Thanks!

Default Gauge lighting...>>

Power requirements are minimal (most have led lighting and are tapped off the blue dimmer line) To answer your question, look at the fuses to determine the max Amps on that particular circuit

Default Current is controlled by the fuse rating and the size of the wire and is rated in Amps, not mA.

A wire that has a 5A fuse on it, can omly support and sink something on the line that does not exceed that fuse rating.

Your gauge should not draw more than an amp, depending on the gauge.

Default thanks, and is there a minimum voltage rating to operate electrical gauges?

Like will an oil temp gauge run on less? I am doing an unrelated project where I will need to run an automotive water temp gauge on a DC circuit, not in a vehicle, and on less than 12V. (possibly 6 if I can get away with it) In modern aftermarket temperature gauges, besides the backlight, what is being supplied with power at 12V? a potentometer?

Default Thanks for your answer. I guess I needed to explain my question further.

My more detail-involved question is above as a reply to Jeff's post.

an automotive gauge works at 12V min. It *may* work on less, but the results may be squewed .

Thanks. I knew it, but was hoping it would work.
