Default How much for a new Tranny?

Hey All,

The Wifes Transmission on her 2005 tt just died...again. We replaced it
less than two years ago. Supposedly, they put in a new tranny...but I
don't know.

Since it was less than two years old...my dealer is "doing me a favor" and will pickup the bill for 75% of it. They are claiming it will cost $ 8700+ for he job..but my end will only be about $ 2k.

Gee...thanks.

My issue is...the "new" tranny is less than two years old..never abused..with less than 30,000 miles on it.

My questions:

1) How much should a tranny cost?
2) Whats the audi warranty on a new tranny?
3) Within the Audi Dealer world...who do I talk to (above my rep).

This situation is completely unacceptable. I cannot afford a new Tranny every two years...nor should I have to replace it every two years.

Can anyone help?

Dwayne

Was it done by an authorized Audi repair facility?

If so, it comes with warranty on replacement. All Audi authorized work comes with at least a one year warranty.

If so, contact Audi USA and ask to speak to the regional rep if you do not get satisfaction locally.

Good luck.

Which transmission? There are four. DSG(3.2 six)----- 6 speed manual (225 hp 1.8 Quattro)
5 speed manual and 6 speed Tiptronic ( 180 hp 1.8 FWD and Quattro. Sorry to hear of your problem. I have heard the $8K number before. Have not heard of many failures thru the years though other than a few issues with the DSG.

It was done at an Audi Dealer. The repair is almost 2 years old. So naturally they are saying" not covered". But how can a new car come with three years...and a NEW tranny just come with one?

It is a 6 speed Tiptronic ( 180 hp 1.8 FWD ). Part # 095G-300-035-GX ??

It's the third time they have worked on it. A bit much for a 6 year old car, right?

Not so much the price of the replacement but the fact that it failed so quickly. Plenty of those in VW beetles and in Golfs that have 100,000 mi plus without issues. Can't blame the driver since it is an auto.
