How much should a shock install be?
While in for my 20K service today I asked my service advisor and they said they'd install my Bilsteins at a rate of two hours per shock, so that's:
(2 * 4 * $90) = $720, + $100 alignment = $820.
Is this way high or pretty much ballpark?

rip off!!!
A dealer should easily be able to install the rear shocks in 15-30 minutes each, max. The front should not take much more than 30-45. Total time not including the alignment should be 90 minutes to maybe 2 hours at the most.
Remember they have airtools which makes the install a breeze. They have a lift which makes the install a breeze as well. They are trained, certified mechanics which should make the install a breeze. They should have done dozens at a minimum which should make the install a breeze. They have the proper tools . . . etc.
$90/hour labor??? Where do you live? The Audi Dealers on Long Island charge $65/hour. $90/hour is more than Porsche Dealers charge here.

About 3 - 4 hours. It is their 'Standard" shock/spring install rate. Not hourly.
I even had to bring it back because of some strange noises (not uncommon with this combo); but these were above average-bad. They did fix it for free though. Yeah, I think it could have been a better rate.

Colorado: $90/hour Audi, $95/hour Porsche...
Since when does how long it takes to do something relate to what any garage charges?
The book says two hours per shock, so that's what they charge, regardless of whether they get it done in 45 minutes or two days...
Even the local Jeep dealer charges $80/hour these days...

I cannot believe the "book" says 2 hours/shock! That's insane!
The suspension on the TT is so basic and simple I cannot believe Audi would think it would take one of their "professionally trained Techs" 2 hours per shock! lol Hell, it would be cheaper for you to fly me to Colorado and do it for you. I would get it done in about 2-2.5 hours.
