It was my first 'fast' car after I built the porsche motor for it. Learned a lot about driving in that car; had to with the poor weight distribution and beetle brakes. Then I bought the TT and had grip!
It has always been a work in progress. I really dove in last summer...with the sawzall. The only parts remaining from the original car is the tunnel and front beam. I grafted on the IRS rear, built a real frame out of box beam and fabbed up the roll cage. I am still waiting on a friend to bend and flare brake lines, then I'll set up steering linkage, and work on getting the hayabusa / megasquirt FI together.
Wish I had more time to just finish it up, really looking forward to driving it again.
What are your plans for the fastback? Stock resto or engine build/performance?
