Default How to remove radio w/o radio keys?

So, I tried 2 different sets of keys... The right clicks and pulls fine, the left clicks but will not hold. I can not for the life of me get the radio out.

I have the maintenance history of the car and I know there were numerous complaints that the radio cover would not stay shut... Do you need to remove the radio to r/r the cover? Could Audi have f*ed up the left clip?

This was SUPPOSED to be XM/ice link install weekend!

Default Here's what the keys do....>>

Sometimes you really have to yank on those to get the radio out. Slip a screwdriver up through the ring and use 2 hands.

Also, I have the radio door and mechanism sitting here on my desk...I think you have to drop the whole center stack to get to it...
Not a project for the faint of heart..

Default Push the key to the left to hold the clip in, then use a small screwdriver...>

or trim tool to pry that side of the radio out..

Default It sounds like a previous owner knocked out the left bracket/clip.

I did the same thing trying to use home made radio keys and eventually wrestled with it for about 20 minutes and got it free.

I pulled hard on one key and got the radio to slide out about 1mm on one side and then I levered the other side until it slid 1mm. Repeat this a few dozen times and you'll get it.

Default GOT IT!

Felt like a bank robber in a movie... went slow... listened for the 'click'

and then pushed it in to hold and did that about 5-6 times till it moved a bit

Now to install everything! :-D
