Default How to remove the strut nut from up above with Koni shocks (due to adjustment tab)?

Since you lose the Allen head on the old shock, how can I prevent the shock from spinning when I try to remove the strut nuts up above? They are being removed to install new strut bushings. Is this something that is going to be require an air gun, or is there a different slot to lock the shock from spinning? Any help would be great!

Allen wrench to hold the strut, socket with a vise grips, or on the hex end to hold/loosen the nut.

Default what he is saying is that the koni shocks do not have the place to put

a allen wrench in there.
If there is a tab you could try holding that with vice grips and use a drop end box wrench instead of a socket.

Default don't hold the tab, you'll screw up the valving...

There's actually a hex nut incorporated in the top of the strut shaft. I think the proper approach is using a 1/4" drive rachet with extension in place of the allen wrench in Jeff's example above. I personally just used an impact wrench.

Default o2 sensor socket with a 6" 1/4" drive extension down the center

and a crows foot attached to a 3/8" drive ratchet holding the o2 sensor socket

Default ahh yes, I did not know that it was an adjustable shock! dont hold it!

I have seen some shocks that are not adjustable with a "tab" instead of the hex.
The drop end box wrench approach will give you more room to work but if you already have a spark plug socket, give that a try.
