Default How should tires, mounted on wheels, be stored?

It's almost time to put on my snow tires, which means I'll be storing my "warm-weather" tires, mounted on the OEM wheels, for the winter.
Is there a proper way to store them? I was thinking of hanging them on bolts driven into studs in the garage.
Thanks for any advise.

Default I first *thoroughly* clean mine and then store flat on the ground in large plastic bags.

And in cleaning I mean cleaning! I first wash them, then use a citrus oil to remove the tar, then wash them again, then I clay bar them, then I wash them again, then I Zaino them (3-4 times), and then store them. I'm a freak!

Default Hang your oems from a tree so your pet pitbull "Jaws" can exercise its teeth but if

you prefer a more civilized approach.... clean them to remove a corrosive brake dust and road films...store them in moisture free sealed bags with small sacks of dessicant....to keep moisture to a minimum...because theres no weight on them flat spotting wont be an issue....but hanging them from hooks is ok...depends on how dry and clean your garage is....I use my oems stacked up with a board on them for a tool bench....

Default can you just stack them up in a corner in the garage? one on top of another?

haven't had to do this yet...was wondering myself.

especially since i really don't have the room...i need to consolidate everything. stacking is my only option...is that okay?

Default Yeah stack them to the roof....bags and cleaning are optional..unless

you are after the "concours" look dont worry tires are pretty durable....the only issue with longterm storage applies to degraded rubber and perhaps flat spotting on low pro's if they are left on a vehicle

Default I do it like this. And I share PGTT's regimen.

I also put a layer of cardboard between each bagged wheel and the next (including one on the floor).

Default I throw them out in the shed and dust them off in the spring. They're tires and wheels, not the

family jewels for goodness sake.
