Default How a TT changes a life... still laughing

Go out on Greenwich Avenue at lunch today with a group of friends from work. Haunting all the boutiques for Christmas, "Oh, stop, I have to look at that TT" They think that's strange, but humor me. "Mille Miglia Spyders" I say. "What the hell are you talking about?" They say. "The wheels" I say. My friends were stunned. "You know the names of hubcaps?" (LOL)

Lake Silver Coupe with a "Norge" emblem on his buTT, if it's anyone here -- p.s get rid of the New Country license plate frames...yick IMHO. They all think I've gone nuts. Nuts is a new boutique on the Avenue that just opened. It's called "Green" and everything in it is some shade of green and nothing costs under a couple hundred bucks. Now, that's funny. Pre-June 22, 1999; I didn't know a MMSpyder from a Sears wheel. I like this better!! Late to the car fun but loving it and learning more from my TT pals all the time. Funny how a car can add another whole dimension and fun to your life.

Default ... and other special talents forum members have!

My friends also wonder why I need to know such detail about every car out there (German, Italian, French and British car, that is)!

To make it worse - they think I'm crazy because I can also identify cellphones by their unique ring, as well as determine what type of ammunition a gun uses by the way the gunpowder smells. Yikes!

Default Yep, do both of those too...

... the crazy thing is that supposedly ATF dogs can search out the correct ammo bins from the smell of *residue*.

Default TT brings new meaning to 'change of life', huh?

Are you now the resident 'gear head' in your group?

Default I'm disturbed that I know the subtle cues...

...that identify a 98 A4 from a 98.5 from a 99 from a 2000. I haven't got an external cue to identify a 2001, but someday...yes someday...I will!

An yet, as we sit here bonding with our car obsessions, there are those who can drive a TT and go on with their lives unaffected: a lady at the dealership, when asked if her Amulet Red TTC was a 180 or a 225 (since its front was to me), replied "I dunno. I just drive it. *shrug*".

Wonder how she'll work "DV" into the next lunchtime conversation?
