Ditto! Three of my bestest dogs were pound dogs! They are the sweetest animals! : )

Default Yup!

We have three dogs in the family at the moment...

1) retired guide dog (stays with parents most of the time)
2) active guide dog
3) guide dog in training

I just came to the realization last night that I think it is best if we do NOT get another guide dog puppy to train. I feel this will be best for the guide dog Alex is using. We need to be a one-dog family for a few years I think. :-( I'm a little bummed by this, but I think this is best.

Lab & Goldens are very similar. If you get a Golden just be ready for 'limp puppy.' When the golden doesn't want to do something s/he will go limp in an effort to fight you. Can be quite cute... the FIRST time.

No matter what dog you get be sure you get yourself some training (that IS what puppy classes are for right?). ;-)

Default mutts are the best - this is my "mexican crotch sniffer"

part australian shepherd
part greyhound
part pit
all goofy
and yes - he usually does win when we wrestle...

Default Take it from a professional dog handler, my wife that is, anything but

a lab or retriever. However, it really depends on what you're looking for in a dog. Check out this Dog-Selecting link Select-A-Dog

You can view our dogs at K-Central Kees

Default We rescued a 2 year old male purebred Akita from a shelter about a year ago. Best thing we could

have done. We also rescued a 4 month old female Shepard mix from a different shelter. They get along famously and really complete our "family."
