Default This is too subjective a topic:-) My $0.02....

1. Goldens rule
2. Choc labs are a close second (as are all labs)
3. Australian sheepdogs are in my fave list
4. Westies, Jack Russells, Cairns, Shelties....
I love them all.

Unless you're set on a particular breed, visit your local pound and fall in love!

Default Westies are the best TT dogs, small, low slung, fast, turbocharged

Default With any popular breed of dog, you have to be

EXTREMELY careful about from whom you purchase your puppy. The amount of unethical, unscrupulous breeders out there is mind-boggling.
I learned this the hard way when my Bouvier des Flandres died at 3 years of age from a defective heart condition. The breeder, who had a big ad in a dog magazine, knew of this problem but was selling the dogs from that line anyway. Please research your breeders carefully!!!
BTW, we now have a Polish Lowland Sheepdog. The breed is very rare but they are unlike ANY dog I have ever known- just WONDERFUL!! Affectionate, very intelligent, hardy, and loaded with personality.

Default Strong agreement here. Golden's rule!

In our experience, Labs seem to be more hyper than Goldens, but breeding is SO important.

Our daughter just got a Lab/Australian Shepard cross. Maggie May is some smart puppy! She's also quite active, as I expect she will continue to be. She attempts to herd our 11-1/2 year Goldens around; something they don't understand.
