I can't imagine saying this, but I actually enjoyed doing this job... I had no helpers and it took "maybe" 3 hours.. I was slow and methodical about it too...
The key (for me and my "popeye" forearms) was to simply loosen the turbo outlet pipe, remove the strut brace (and passenger side strut brace bracket). With that stuff out of the way, you can VERY easily get to the turbo's 7mm hose clamp.
The other key (to my sanity) was to disconnect two hoses from the top (and not from the intake hose itself). I removed them from the intake hose once it was removed from the car.
The "rope trick" worked even better then expected. I tied a "noose" around the lower bend section of the hose and routed the other end out the wheel wheel towards the back of the fender liner.. I was prepared for a battle.. I gave a small tug and "POP" off came the hose. Very easy.
I did dremel/file a small plastic centering "nub" (marking the hose for orientation first)
Additional "tip".. I wrapped each intake hose "nipple" with friction tape.. This keeps the new hose clamps from tearing up the silicone (in the hose clamp slots).
I'll wait until the front end is off (again) to install the upper IC hoses.
