AJ USA of San Diego, who I believe may have ripped me off. I'll let you know what the outcome is. Here's the complaint that I submitted:
I bought suspension components from AJUSA in '00. At the time of installation, they had an identical wrecked Audi TT that they were rebuilding from a salvage title. Then service manager Cameron offered to store my original suspension parts & said it's something they did routinely & they had "plenty of room". I agreed, but made it clear that I wanted the parts back one day in case I needed to swap the original suspension back.
Months later, I called Cameron & told him I wanted my parts back. He sounded nervous & said he thought they threw them out. After I complained, he said he found them. I picked up what appeared to be my Audi's original shocks & springs, which were in what appeared to be the original coilover box.
I stored these parts at my mom's house until recently. I am purchasing a 2004 Audi TT & asked the dealer to put by original suspension back on. I took the parts AJUSA said were my original components to Miramar Audi of San Diego. Miramar told me that these parts were not from an Audi TT & couldn't physically fit.
It's possible that AJ USA stole my TT's suspension to use on the salvage title TT that they were rebuilding. This would explain their eagerness to store my parts, which is unusual. I believe they had hoped that I would not return to claim my TT's suspension. When I did, I believe they intentionally substituted parts that they knew were not from an Audi TT, just to appease me for the moment.
Best case, AJ USA was sloppy in the storage of my parts. I did NOT ask them to store these; they volunteered to do this. I made it quite clear that I was not abandoning these parts.
Worst case, AJ USA intentionally defrauded me, procuring my parts for their own use, in the rebuilding of their salvage title Audi TT, which was identical to mine.
I was able to obtain major components on my own, but I want AJ USA to pay for the parts needed to put them back on my TT (about $250). I am letting them off easy, as I'm not asking for labor or major components.
