here's a pic of the steering wheel...

and a close up of the RS4 inlay...

the color of the perforated leather actually matches much better than what's photographed...must have been the lighting.

Thinking about buying a Motorola Q which has Verizon's navigation service capabilities. Need to decide fast cause I suck with directions.
Right now I'm making a valance with the correct angle for the mounting clips. The previous didn't and wasn't catching thus led to an unsatisfactory fitment. I'll let you know when -- I know you're interested in a flat black one!

i had my treo with tom tom GPS on it...it had a bluetooth receiver that you placed on the dash. the screen was too small and cumbersome, so i didn't use it much. with this setup, i use alot since it is easier to use because of size. the Q is similar in size to the treo...maybe bigger, you might not be all that happy with it.
and besides, the GPS option on verizon will eat up batteries on your phone like crazy...you'll need it constantly plugged in...i charge the nuvi's battery and could plug it in if i wanted to, but haven't because of inconvenience of the cord.

Hi Bill,
I'm a newbie when it comes to any serious mod to my TT, but can appreciate fine craftmanship, when I see it. I love the way you installed your Nuvi. I just purchased a 660, and am looking at alternative solutions. I think the suction cup bracket that comes with the unit is pretty similar, so I could adapt it the same way. What did you use to get a clean slice, without mangling it? and can you offer any more direction on how you attached the bracket. I know you mentioned a 5mm bolt (and nut?). Did you order Steve's bracket pre-drilled?
I totally agree that the battery life is probably good enough to eliminate the cigarette lighter plug, but I'm considering using the FM traffic service, in which case it would be great to hard-wire the sucker. (Anyone have any feedback re the FM traffic service??) Have you seen any good solutions for that? I guess you'd take the wire thru one of the vents. I'll probably have a "pro" installer do that for me if its too difficult.
Thanks for your help!
