all while surprising the hell out of a new Corvette convertible owner. The guy was youngish and with a friend. I knew as soon as I passed him it was going to be an issue and that he was not going to allow himself get *passed* by a lowly Audi. The chase was on. =)
As soon as I saw him drift in behind me, I was in the process of downshifting into 4th, making sure that me little blow drier of a turbo is spooled and ready to go. It was a good thing because the second traffic moved out of the way...I stomped on it and he was there. It was great because I know this car on the top end would get me, no way around it....but my car was faster out of the whole through traffic, so I was able to be just fast enough where there was no chance for him to pass me. This went on for a good 20-25mi down I-83 here in MD.
Most of the ride was spent above 100mph and I was pretty impressed with the stability of my car around turns etc with the bridge joints and bad roads. If I had to guess, I felt a little more comfortable around turns in my car than the guy did in his vette (it still had temporary tags) because there was a few turns were I noticed that he really backed off....then he caught right back up to me.
Well, the time came where I was no longer able to use traffic as the reason I was able to be the leader for that long of a time, like I said, the Vette was definitely faster, but I <b>KNEW</b> by the look on the guys face, that he had no clue I was going to run with him the way I did. Traffic opened up and he darted out from behind me and started pulling on me and by 100 or so mph, he was about a car length in front of me...by 120 he was probably 2 and it was downhill from there =)
I caught back up with him because of traffic and then I was about to split off so I honked and waved....to which both of the guys in the Vette raised there hands and gave me a thuumbs up
Wow....fun....My leg could hardly press in the clutch I had so much adrenaline pumping through my veins

Remind me not to get on the highway when you're driving <g>. Don't mean to play old fogey here, but do you really think it was wise to play follow the leader with another car at 100 mph in traffic? Stay safe.
