Default Ideas for a custom exhaust?

So I spent the better part of Saturday AM with the exhaust guy who has done my last 5 cars. We fabbed up custom ideas / systems for each one. Naturally, I brought the TT in to see what we could dream up. There are a few ideas we have, but I was wondering... has anyone scrapped the muffler altogether and just done the resonator (glass pack for us old-school folks) with straight pipes out to the factory exit locations? I mean, its a turbo 4, so the exhaust is pretty muffled as is.

I was looking for actual experience here - not really curious what anyone thinks "might" happen. I'd like to hear what you exhaust customizers have done. I have some other ideas, but this one is the most intriguing...

Default Yes.. its called a UUC...or some people have gone custom that route...

lose the rear muffler.. go 3"... I'd do a normal inline muffler, not a glasspack, something flowthrough, and nice tips.

What is removing the muffler good for? If you are leaving the resonator, is it the stock?

Default mine's "custom"

i had my welder do a cat back, 2.5" to a glasspack resonator (no muffler)

he yanked the whole stock system (from cat to the rear) and replaced...

~140 + cost of glasspack..

cheers

Default well I did a 3" turbo back...

Initially I had no resonator, only a custom built muffler and it was loud. I mean REALLY SEMI TRUCK ON THE JAKE BRAKE LOUD. LOL. Then I had a custom silencer made. Still too loud. Now I have a custom built resonator, and its just as loud as I would like it. Wish I had a way to make a good quality sound clip.

Default Custom built muffler is your issue....

None of those don't amplify the sound.

I think I worded it wrong...it sounds perfect now. I still want to compare to a UUC
