Default If I wasn't in love with this car already, tonight blew me away. Went to my friend Karen's

at 2 p.m. today after my kids left to go to their Dad's. She had a great bunch over and it was just sleeting and raining on the way over. As everyone went to leave around 6 pm, each one came back in the house because they couldn't get up Karen's slight incline of a street. Around 6:30 the power went out at her place, the storm had become wonderfully nasty out, about 5 inches of glop thick snow on top of slush with the snow coming in sideways from the wind. One of the worst I've ever seen in CT. So, I say I'm leaving and they all laugh. Go out to Raudi and push the snow off with my umbrella .. climb in and I'm off. Now I had the 180 FWD with good snow tires previously, but the quattro with the Nokians is another experience all together. I was having so much fun I decided to take every bad backroad home that I could. Just me and the city snow plows going by SUVs stuck on the side of the road, what a hoot. I'm driving down the middle of roads so I can hit the deepest stuff, and, I can freaking accelerate still.

Still, I was worried about my steep hill of a driveway once I got home. With the FWD, I took it once with about three inches of snow on it and came about a 1/4 inch from smacking the wall on the way up with the fishtailing. Did a driveby to open the garage door so I didn't need to stop on the driveway, went around the block and drove straight up the driveway like it was a day in June. Sat in Raudi and just laughed. Still somewhat surprised at the difference between the two cars. Would still take the FWD TT over any other car in the snow, but the quattro/Nokian combo blows it away. I'm almost tempted to go back out again ;-D

Have a wonderful rest of your Christmas day everybody...there's one person that should have been with me tonight to terrorize in the snow, but somehow I think he was along for the ride ;-D

Default Hey mom, what Nokians did you buy and from where?

I like my Dunlop Wintersports, but they are a cross between dry and snow, so at time in the snow I will get my beast to fishtail- Quattro or not. It is not hard for it to break free, and thought maybe next time I will invest in some 100% snow/ice tires.

Default :-) very nice, denny. glad you had a good Christmas...i find that...

i usually get much better traction in my ttqc (with dunlop sport snows) than most suv's do. the tt was made for this weather!

those of us in the border states. i haven't had any problems with my dunlops -- but the most i've gone out in is about 6" of snow.

Default Got them on the wheels from Ronal ... speed rated to 150 mph ;-D They really are all season and

drive beautifully on dry as well. All season in Finland equals great snow rating tire here ;-D They actually have a new winter tire out, the WR, that I knew about but couldn't wait for, that is supposed to be even better. Here's a link to their website. The funny thing is that the NRWs are not even listed as a snow tire, but are classified as such in the US. I think they are under all weather plus tires on the website.

http://www.nokiantires.com/indexen.html</a
