I kid you not. This is the biggest audit bust ever. Major company audit busts of days gone by do not involve a PIC shredding current working papers.

other aspects of a company's work, we'd get a real audit done by experienced auditors. Both are to blame - but this time, AA screwed up by acting as the internal auditors and external auditors - Evidently Enron contracted internal audit to AA also.

Are you paying 'em market or are they hoping to get other work?
I know at AA (I worked there from 80-84 in tax) there is a temptation to place your newbies on audits and even 2 or 3 yr people handling major items. Another problem is that the auditors don't want to hack off the company they are auditing so they back off being aggressive about what they consider poor or inappropriate accounting methods

a lot of AA auditors were not sleeping well and there was a lot of fighting inside AA itself as well as with Enron
