Hi there, have posted this on the A6 forum but you guys may also be able to help...
I know these engines aren't that common-place with you guys (I guess i should post in the A4/TT forums also), but most people are aware of the ignition coil problems with 01 and 02 models.
I bought a used avant back in September and within 2 weeks i had a coil fail. Audi roadside assist did the business and replaced all 4 coils with the new 'improved' design.
Now this has been done can I expect any further hassle or does the new design really nail this problem?
thanks
Colin

You should check with your service manager as he can tell you if your car had the defective coils ... sounds like it probably did. In any case, you should be good to go with the new ones but your service guy should also be able to confirm this as well.
FYI, the coil recall initially started out as a very broad one where they were going to replace them on a huge number of cars but then Audi narrowed the problems down to certain manufacturing lots and is only replacing those. If your car is outside the affected group though and the coils fail, they will replace them if your car is still under warranty and you could probably talk them into covering the cost if the car is not to far out of the warranty.
