I'll keep this brief, it's mostly OT. Wow, Saabs really are not that good are they?

A friend here at work has a 9-5 SE. She just let me sit in it, play around with the controls, etc.

It's by far the cheapest most plasticky interior of any $30K plus car I have seen recently. And it smelled funny. I always thought that was old smell in Saab's I've been in before but this one only has about 20K on it. The switches are ergonomically tortureful and there is only one cupholder that's usable for the front! The starter key thang takes up the other potential cupholder space.

It had plenty of room inside, I'll give it that. The seats were of average comfort and I wasn't told about the seat air conditioner until after the test period .

Have they always been that bad or has GM ruined them? We have a newly reborn Saab dealer here and they are eager but the product... the product...

I now return you to your luxurious Audi interior...

Default Sounds like the Ford influence has affected them

My parents had a few back in the 80s fit & finish where great then. In fact, one saved my father's life in a very bad car accident.

And, when I test drove the Viggen before I got the TT quality seemd find, torque steer was a completely different story.

Default I had a 85 900s that was excellent in most ways.....

the only problem was the tendency for the rpms to drop to a stall when the a/c was on. The car was like a locomotive at speed on the highway. Stable, quiet, comfortable w/heated seats and ergonomics excellent including the ignition placed next to the seat. Nothing better in snow. large wheels (at the time 16") with weight over the front so traction even on hills on ice. Great snow car. A ton of room with seats folded - towed motorcycle to races and stowed windsurf gear. Best thing was all the accessories designed for the line, ie, retractable trailer hitches, mud flaps, stone gard strips, pliable floor mats, trunk liners, thule racks, etc...

Their interiors are still stuck in 1982, when I owned a 900 Turbo
